Caramelized Turnips

Enjoy this cozy root vegetable recipe as a side dish to an equally comforting cold-weather meal.

INGREDIENTS
3 cups turnips, diced and peeled
1/4 cup water
1 cube chicken bouillon (substitute with 1/2 cup chicken stock or broth)
1 tablespoon butter, more as needed
2 tablespoons white sugar (substitute equal parts honey)

DIRECTIONS
1. Place the turnips into a skillet with the water and chicken bouillon cube over medium heat.
2. Simmer until the water has evaporated and the turnips are tender, about 15 minutes.
3. Melt butter over turnips.
4. Sprinkle with sugar.
5. Gently cook and stir the turnips until the butter and sugar cook into a brown, sticky coating on the turnips, about 10 minutes.

Serve hot.
